New York to DC in under 1/2 hour

Seems amazing how fast we can go if we set our minds to it.  This is a very old technology that was recently revived by Elon Musk for the future.  Hyperloop technology dates back to before the invention of the automobile yet could transport us faster then any current method either by plane or train. 

Elon Musk openly published the patents and challenged inventors to create a new form of transportation.  In 2015 several teams worked on the problem and are in the process of getting funding for a new rail from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The current model should reach speeds of 700 miles per hour.  With Elon Musk's impressive track record of either backing or coming up with winning ideas like SpaceX, Tesla Motors and Solar City, his open source hyperloop might just be the best.  

In the future it might be possible to go from D.C to New York or L.A. to San Francisco in under 1/2 hour.
